50 States

My journey, and my life, looks like it will take me many places. I'd like to do something memorable in as many places of the world as possible. Something that has a story. For now, I'll start with what I've seen in the United States. I've driven through so many places going back and fourth across the country, so I'm only counting places that I have a true memory of that could lead into a good tale.

  • Alabama:
  • Alaska:
  • Arizona:  Stopped and saw the Hoover Dam from the Arizona side of the river, while on the most pointless road trip I've ever been on in my life. The story here is not so much the Dam, but the trip.
  • Arkansas:
  • California:  Visited San Francisco for approximately 36 hours while on a pointless business trip. I ate at In-n-Out burger for the first time ever! Got to drive over the Golden Gate bridge and spot Alcatraz Island from it. [I'm planning on getting a better California story...]
  • Colorado:  Climbed Hallet's Peak - second time ever climbing a mountain, first time in the states. Amazing view at the top!
  • Connecticut:
  • Delaware:
  • District of Columbia:  Helped lead a week long trip with two different groups of great men and women. Toured the main sights, made some great friends.
  • Florida:  Grew up in and lived here for 20 years. Too many memories to tell.
  • Georgia:  Family trip. Six Flags over Georgia. Lost on the Atlanta interstate system. Driving through a hurricane at 60mph with about 9.5 feet of visibility!
  • Hawaii:
  • Idaho:
  • Illinois:
  • Indiana:  Spent a weekend here at a wedding for people I didn't even know. Why? So I could go to an amusement park, of course!
  • Iowa:
  • Kansas:
  • Kentucky:
  • Louisiana:  Driving through post-Katrina New Orleans at 3am going 100mph while everyone else in the car was asleep. The devastation of this city was astounding.
  • Maine:
  • Maryland:
  • Massachusetts:
  • Michigan:
  • Minnesota:
  • Mississippi:
  • Missouri:  Stayed here at a friend's Dad's house while driving across country. Surprisingly beautiful state. I also finally rode in a Miata here for the first time and fell in love with it!
  • Montana:  Month long mission trip to the Blackfoot and Flathead Indian reservations. Great times.
  • Nebraska:
  • Nevada:
  • New Hampshire:
  • New Jersey:
  • New Mexico:  While on the very long very pointless road trip mentioned above, I was trying to save some time by taking a short cut. This is when [several hours later] I learned that in New Mexico, there are no shortcuts. There is, however, a lot of border patrol, which put the Canadian in the car on edge every time there was another vehicle around us!
  • New York:
  • North Carolina:
  • North Dakota:
  • Ohio:  Went to Cedar Point Amusement park. Hands down, best amusement park I've EVER been to. Yes, I took a 1000+ mile road trip and time off work just to ride these roller coasters!
  • Oklahoma:
  • Oregon:
  • Pennsylvania:
  • Rhode Island:
  • South Carolina:  This is where I was born, and given the official legal name of "White" because some doctor's office in podunk didn't know how to fill out a birth certificate properly. True story.
  • South Dakota:  Trailer literally snapped while driving down the interstate, broke down in the middle of the state on 4th of July weekend with nothing around but corn for literally hundreds of miles. 'Twas a long day. ;)
  • Tennessee:
  • Texas:  Lived here for 5 years. Worked in ministry the whole time. Made some of the best friends I will ever have. Texas has more of my heart than I think even I know.
  • Utah:
  • Vermont:
  • Virginia:  Lived here for a short time with some good friends. I've also visited Monticello, Mt. Vernon, Gettysburg, etc. Virginia is perhaps the most beautiful place I've been in my life thus far. It takes my breath away daily.
  • Washington:
  • West Virginia:
  • Wisconsin:
  • Wyoming:  Received a warning at 1am for driving a pickup truck and trailer with a dying alternator and subsequently only one headlight. The highway patrolman told me to watch out for an assortment of large animals I'd never known existed, but could apparently take out the truck.
